Akatsuki no yona is an excellent anime, I must say it represents a rather surprising element. At first it may seem like an anime of the genre Shojo quite typical, however, I must say that this anime is excellent, since although it has a slow start, the plot is developed in an excellent way, and results in a story that has many elements quite entertaining to offer.
Although the design of characters and their characteristics are quite common at first glance (especially the main character), the characters are developed throughout the story, showing more structured personalities and presenting a rather unique and unexpected anime ending in comparison with the beginning of this anime.
It is definitely a pretty recommended anime, it is very dynamic, with a good story and an excellent development.
Yona is the only princess of the Kouka kingdom, living the luxurious and carefree life as a princess should. She has it all: the best clothes, cosmetics, the most divine sweets, a loving emperor like her father, and her handsome cousin, Soo-won, and her childhood friend and bodyguard, Hak. But a cruel and unexpected event happens that will change the course of your destiny.
Yona is the princess of the kingdom of Kouka, who lives a life without worries, or at least that was until the night of her sixteenth birthday, when she is betrayed by someone very close and must flee the castle with her bodyguard and friend of the Childhood Hak. So begins this anime of 24 chapters that kept me hooked from the beginning and I was conquering little by little, until finally I finished marathon. I am very glad to have seen it already being finished, because I would not have been able to see it weekly.
The plot is not the most original, but the development and the characters are what make Akatsuki not Yona a story that is on track to become one of my favorites.
Yona is a character that I love. At first she is a helpless girl (and I say helpless and not weak, because Yona was never weak, at least for me); A spoiled princess who lived in a bubble alien to everything, but then becomes the waifu arquera most badass of the whole kingdom. What I like most about Yona's evolution is that it is credible, not abrupt, it develops throughout the chapters; Is not a "Yona is no longer afraid," is "Yona is afraid, but that does not stop her." It is not wrong to tremble with fear, it is not wrong to cry; It's okay as long as you do not let that defeat you. I love that message.
The anime is not a tragic love story, but neither is it a typical story of revenge. There is remarkable progress within the story, this one sticks to its characters, mainly to Yona, because if we would have to summarize the anime in a word would be "Introduction". Basically, its 24 episodes (+ OVA) concentrate as single objective the search of the four dragons. Through a long and long story, the series introduces us to the characters who will share protagonism so each of them will have their own mini-bow that will portray their decision to join or not to Yona and company in their journey, the dynamics As a group and their collaboration / participation in the resolution of small conflicts. Contrary to what one might think, it is a nice prologue because the characters are charismatic and function as a whole.
The anime combines comedy and drama well because it knows when and how to introduce them to the scene; However, in some sequences the rhythm changes were abrupt and unexpected, completely ruining the tension of the moment. Of course, once you get accustomed to the going and coming of the series is even pleasant changes of environment. Or, well, unless it was for me.
Akatsuki no Yona is a goddamn pleasure to watch and I'm glad I did not ignore it. At first the plot sounds generic, but give the show a chance and you'll experience some of the most well done developments in anime in years. This show deserves a Season 2, hell it needs ne. And this all comes from Studio Pierret ... how about putting this effort in Tokyo Ghoul? But besides jokes, you should seriously start watching Akatsuki no Yona right now.
The Art is pretty good for the most part, it has some well done character designs and sometimes some well detailed characters. Same goes for sound, its great to listen, both OPs and EDs are goddamn beautiful and the OSTs fit the shows theme.
The show is a blast to watch, it leaves no plotholes (from my point of view) and has dialouge that seems useful. The problem is that sometimes this show is a serious adventure fantasy and then converts to shoujo comedy and usually this transition feels unnatural and ruin the tense moments. At times its pretty funny but at times, I can not even.
Akatsuki no Yona is aseries of genre Action, Adventure, Comedy, Fantasy, Romance, Shoujo. At first, this show seems like your average run of the mill shoujo reverse harem, but by the end of the first episode as the story goes on, it seems to be more than that, its really a well written story which focuses on vengence and Betrayal, it blow other shoujos away. The pacing at times when getting dragons to join may seem a little slow and does drag on here and there. Sure it does focus on finding the dragons but get to the point already, sure there may be a sidestory but can we just get these people coming in?
The characters are done well and are beautifully developed, Yona is pretty much one of my faviroute female characters of all time, she starts off weak and fragile like a little kitten and develops on to be something big, brave independent creature awaiting its prey, Its done in a way that is developing its spot on. If I'd rate Yona alone it would be easy 10. Hak is Yona's first protector, being known since childhood, Hak is goddamn badass, he helps Yona and keeps her safe from danger, he'll use himself as a tool to protect Her The other dragons are pretty good characters each with their own backstories and being well developed to Yona. The problem i have here is that some of these characters might say a serious speech and then revert to comedy, at first its a good ol'joke but it keeps getting used so much that its just a pain in the ass at times.
This anime represents an incredible story that has suddenly appeared. I must admit that the story may seem boring, monotonous or repetitive, but after a few chapters the plot assumes a rather interesting role.
The anime has a lot of positive elements, one of my favorite elements of this anime is its incredible writing, the anime turns out to be a very agile, dynamic and interesting story at all times with incredible action scenes that complement it.
The most important defect of this story lies in the end. The story has such good elements and all are narrated quickly, however the end is very unfinished, or leaves the impression of being the preamble of something better that never comes to occur.
Finally and taking into account all the factors, I highly recommend this story. It represents a different element these days with a highly interesting concept.
Akatsuki no Yona is a catchy anime, with very cool characters, not lacking in action or comedy (I love chibi moments). I liked it so much that the first thing I did when I finished seeing it was to look for the manga (I go to Chapter 55). I hope one day has a very deserved second season, while we will have to settle for the OVA that will come out in September. Akatsuki no Yona is, in short, a great anime that you can not miss.
Is it something you recommend? ... If I recommend it if you like the stories that mix so much of romance with elements of action or fantasy, it deserves an opportunity and even with its 24 episodes does not feel long for anything. In my opinion is a good series, not enter a top 10, but, look forward to a new season if it was confirmed.
